RASUAH 2

blogtunm.blogspot.com Tun M

ENG VERSION
CORRUPTION 2

My wife and I wish Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin to all Malaysians, especially to readers of this blog.

1. In the recent by-election many of the people of the electorate were happy to receive money, rice and electrical appliances.

2. They certainly know what they had received were bribes. The giver would also certainly know what they did was wrong in the eyes of the law and also in the eyes of religion they profess.

3. It was because of this corruption, the party that bribed was victorious.

4. Victory obtained by illegitimate means is by no means a real victory. Just as all stolen goods are illicit to use or consume, so is victory that is not legitimate.

5. In this world they cannot be punished for the power to prosecute and judge rests with them. But the acts of not prosecuting and punishing are also wrong in worldly laws and in religion. This multiplies the wrongs and sins of their act. Bribery given and received by the receiver are illegal twice over.

6. The money used for bribery is also illicit as they were acquired through illegal means. Those who received the money were actually receiving money illegally three times over.

7. In Islam we are given the right to repent. But we will only receive mercy from Allah s.w.t. if we do not repeat the wrongs we have done. Those waiting for a bribe in the future will have to bear in mind the decree of the Quran regarding repentance.

8. Corruption is a heinous and dirty crime. It destroys society, oppresses the poor, hinders progress and harmony, weakens and facilitates colonization by other nations.

9. Those who are trying to legitimize corruption remains as one of those criminals who have sinned. Even worse are those who know that religion prohibits corruption but nonetheless they try to legitimize corruption. Their sins would certainly multiply if because of their claim that corruption is lawful others will accept bribes.

10. It is very sad indeed that most of the people who take bribes and receive bribes are Muslims. This is because there is no pressure by those responsible in educating the importance of prohibiting corruption and the importance of rejecting it. Therefore it is not included in the value of life held as part of the culture of Muslims in Malaysia, at least.

11. Hope of society on anti-corruption laws may not fully succeed. Laws prohibiting thefts may reduce but will not eliminate the crime of theft altogether. Certainly if those given the responsibility of enforcing the law against corruption are themselves corrupted, then the law itself is meaningless. Even worse is when laws to prevent corruption are used for other purposes, for instance politics. Corruption involving a million is liable for action, corruption involving billions legitimized.

12. In fact, it is only the rejection of corruption as a culture and a life value alone that can reduce corruption. True there is corruption everywhere. But it is very much reduced if the culture of society or the people despises and rejects corruption.

13. For this, people at the top, especially senior leaders, should show good examples. More so leader need to assure that educators give emphasize in educating students from kindergarten to schools.

14. Indeed, the country is heading towards destruction as corruption is widely used to control everything.
